Addiction has become a national crisis of morbidity, mortality, and societal and economic well-being in the United States and around the world. Addiction creates an enormous emotional, social and economic burden on individuals, families and society. It is imperative to determine cost-effective interventions to more equitably and efficiently use our limited health resources. In our studies, we have conducted economic evaluations to identify, measure, and compare the costs and effectiveness of substance abuse interventions in various contexts.
