HEALTH POLICY IN AMERICA’S SAFETY NET
Our work with underserved, marginalized and vulnerable populations, areas and facilities demonstrates the need to better understand access to and utilization of necessary treatments at the systems level. We have conducted studies of the emergency department, considered a safety net in response to United States health system failures. The emergency department is a central entry point for individuals with a wide range of injuries and illness to the health system as a whole. The emergency department is interconnected to the entire health system.
